Common questions
How do I connect with my partner?
Open TouchBack and go to Connect someone. You’ll see a QR code, a short code and a Share invite link button — use whichever is easiest. Your partner scans the code, taps the link, or chooses Join instead and types the code. Once they join, both phones show that you’re connected.
My invite code says it’s expired or already used.
Each invitation works once and expires after a while, so an old code cannot be reused by someone else. Create a new invite from the Connect screen and send that one instead.
The invite link opened this website instead of the app.
That means TouchBack isn’t installed yet, or the link was opened inside another app’s built-in browser. Install TouchBack, then tap the link again — or open it in Safari or Chrome. You can always open the app, choose Join instead and type the code.
I can’t feel any vibration.
Check Settings → Haptics in TouchBack, then your phone’s own settings: on iPhone, Settings → Sounds & Haptics → System Haptics; on Android, Settings → Sound & vibration → Vibration & haptics. Low Power Mode or battery saver can soften or switch off vibration. Some Android phones have simpler vibration motors, so patterns may feel plainer there.
My partner doesn’t get my Knock.
Knocks arrive as notifications, so your partner needs to have allowed notifications for TouchBack, and Knock turned on in the app’s notification settings. Focus or Do Not Disturb modes can hold notifications back. Knocks are also gently rate-limited, so tapping many times in a row will not send many alerts.
Their touch looks delayed or jumpy.
Live touch travels over the internet, so it is only as smooth as the slower of your two connections. Moving from mobile data to Wi-Fi, or closer to the router, usually helps. If one of you drops offline, the room reconnects on its own when the connection returns.
I’m getting a new phone. How do I keep our connection?
Before you switch, open Settings → Transfer device on your old phone to get a short-lived transfer code, and scan it with TouchBack on the new phone. If you no longer have the old phone, use the recovery code from Settings → Recovery — that is why it is worth saving somewhere safe. Because there is no login, we cannot restore a connection without one of these.
Is TouchBack free? What does Premium add?
Pairing, Knock, live touch, basic haptics, Find Me and Touch Prints are free, and the free version shows some ads on quiet screens such as your history — never while you are touching. TouchBack Premium is an optional subscription that adds premium effects, haptic patterns, room themes, Touch Print styles, unlimited history and Recaps, with no ads. Premium is per person: it unlocks these for the person who subscribes, not for their partner.
How do I cancel or restore Premium?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not by us. Cancel in your App Store subscriptions or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. On a new phone, tap Restore purchase on the Premium screen. The Terms of Use explain renewals and refunds.
What happens if we disconnect?
Disconnecting ends the shared room straight away and your partner is told. Touch Prints you saved to your photos stay on your phone. Shared history on our servers is kept for 30 days so an accidental disconnect doesn’t destroy it — if the two of you reconnect within that window, it comes back — and then it is deleted automatically. Write to us if you want it removed sooner.
What do you store about us?
An anonymous identity for your phone, the nickname you chose, your pairing, and small summaries of your sessions — such as how long you were connected, touch and hug counts, and your Touch Prints. The live movement of your finger is never stored. We don’t ask for your name, email, phone number, location or contacts. The Privacy Policy has the full list.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings → Privacy → Delete my data. Everything personal goes immediately — profile, photo, settings, devices — and so does the history you and your partner made together, for both of you. Their own account is untouched. If you only want to stop, disconnect instead: that keeps the shared history for 30 days. If you no longer have the app, use our data deletion page or email us with the nickname shown in your app and roughly when you paired, so we can find the right records. You can also switch off analytics and crash reports in Settings → Privacy, and change your ad choices there where your region offers them.
Reporting a problem
It helps a lot to know your phone model, its iOS or Android version, the TouchBack version (in Settings), and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot or screen recording is even better. Please never send us your recovery code — we will never ask for it.
